The DELOS Association on Digital Libraries, Digital Curation Centre (DCC), DigitalPreservationEurope (DPE), and the Feltrinelli Foundation are delighted to announce that we will be delivering our 4th Summer School on preservation in digital libraries from the 8th to the 14th of June 2008 in Tirrenia, Italy. This is the fourth in this series of summer schools with earlier ones held at Sofia Antipolis (2005), San Miniato (2006), and Pisa (2007).
Participation in the Summer School assists attendees in understanding how to address digital preservation and curation challenges within the context of digital libraries and data archives. In addition, the Summer School offers participants the opportunity to network with other researchers, international experts, and practitioners across disciplinary and national boundaries.
The Summer School will take place at the Grand Hotel Continental in Tirrenia, Italy during the week beginning 8 June 2008. We hope that the audience will be, as it has been in the past, mainly young researchers and professionals with an interest in the topic of digital curation and preservation. Internationally established lecturers will each lead one half-day session and most will be available through the week for further discussion. The learning outcomes for the course as a whole appear at the bottom of this document.

The first report from the DELOS Research Exchange Program is now available. This report summarizes on the scientific activity performed by the author during a visit to TU-Wien for the period ranging from 2nd November 2005 to 30th November 2005. The goal of this activity was to both test a generic preservation testbed framework in large and real-world environments with different preservation requirements, and to make the resulting generic preservation testbed framework and decision support modules more comprehensive.
